It is much easier to criticize somebody else’s work than to create something cool yourself. But if you apply a systematic approach to criticizing, make a numbered list and prepare illustrations, it will be regarded as a fully-fledged analysis! In my opinion, icon design is undergoing a transitional period. On the one hand, screen resolutions are increasing, hence enhancing icons. On the other hand, we still have good old pixels. Icons sized 16×16 and even smaller are still widely used. And so, here are the most commonly observed mistakes in icon design…

1 Insufficient differentiation between icons/图标间差异不充分
Sometimes within one set of icons, we have icons that look alike and it is very hard to understand what is what. If you miss the legends, you can very easily get the icons mixed up.
有时，在一套图标中，我们的一些图标看起来很像，这让人很难分辨出哪个是哪个。如果你不注意说明，你会很容易把这些图标混在一起。

Deciding on an alternative for Photoshop depends a lot on what you use Photoshop for. There are five apps that will give you some information about that are trying to compete head to head with Photoshop. Though if you have more targeted image creation needs there are some apps that may even be a better option than Photoshop.

本期是站酷的创刊号，这本电子杂志共230页，24位国内设计师参与，整体的形式有点《newwebpick》的感觉。这次iconfans论坛的加盟设计师们作为GUI设计专版出现其中。期待他们做得更好！不过，目前好像没有mac版本的，有点遗憾。

Mark Oliver是英国深受小朋友们喜爱的插图画家，他的作品轻松、诙谐、幽默、充满了想像力，因此许多的出版公司约他为儿童图书作画。我非常喜欢他的矢量风格的作品，造型可爱、构思巧妙。

2010年温哥华冬季奥运会组委会吉祥物当地时间11月27日揭晓。第一代华裔移民黄慧琪等根据卑诗省神话传说所创作的3个卡通形象成功入选。
冬奧会吉祥物的名字分别是：米加(Miga，原住民神话中的北极熊)、魁特奇(Quatchi，北美大脚野人)；而冬季残奥会的吉祥物则是名叫苏米(Sumi ，戴着虎鲸帽子的动物保护神)。另外还有一个陪衬吉祥物Mukmuk(一种稀有的温哥华岛土拨鼠)。Mukmuk并不是官方的正式吉祥物，但会在一些场合出现。

这是我设计的一套关于足球的系统图标。因为工作很忙，所以制作的周期比较长，断断续续的，大概花了两个月的时间，其中个别几个图标是很复杂的，比如球鞋、摄像机、足球等。希望大家对我能提些宝贵的意见和建议，毕竟这是我第一次制作icon设计，还需要很多经验。
